Welcome to highlycaffeinated.co.uk, the online portfolio of Surrey based web designer Katy Hockham.

I have been working as a web designer for three years. Having always had the design bug, I taught myself how to use Photoshop nearly six years ago and enjoy the challenge of turning my designs into useable websites.

I never like to build the same website twice, as I believe that every site should have its own distinct style. While this often leads to making the coding harder for myself, I'd rather a site had the design edge than was easy for me to convert to XHTML/CSS.

What I like about web design is that in the world of the internet everything moves at breakneck speed. There's always something new to learn and never time to get bored.

web standards

So many designers build their sites so that they 'work' and don't bother with web standards or cross browser compatibility.

I believe it's important to show that your site complies with W3C standards, if only to ensure everyone looking at your site is seeing it the way you want them to. If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right. All my sites validate to W3C standards.
